In the coming period, Montenegro should analyze the effects of increasing the minimum wage and reducing the wage contribution rate, and move in the direction of an agreement on further increasing the minimum income, announced the Social Democrats (SD).
They welcomed the agreement of the social partners on increasing the minimum wage from 193 to 222 euros, which will benefit over 40 employees, and said that they consider the agreed reduction in the wage contribution rate of two percent justified.
"Of course, in the period ahead, we need to analyze the effects of the mentioned measures and go in the direction of an agreement on a further increase of the minimum wage", said representatives of SD.
They added that the backbone of efficient economic development is satisfied workers and employers, which is why the state must even more decisively encourage the dialogue of social partners, which should always be based on serious analyses.
"In this sense, once again the enviable level of responsibility of the social partners has been shown, who prioritized dialogue and agreement, rather than the populism of those political subjects who tried to profit from this very important and sensitive topic," the SD stated.
They believe that a serious analysis of the income tax rate should be undertaken in the coming period.
"SD stands for progressive income taxation, which implies a reduction of the tax burden for all below-average incomes, that is, the introduction of a non-taxable part of income. This increase in all below-average wages in Montenegro would result in fairer income taxation, additional relief for the population and an increase in disposable income," explained SD.
They also welcomed the agreement on the necessity of changes to the Law on Pension and Disability Insurance, which should offer better systemic solutions, with the expectation that it will go in the direction of increasing the minimum pension, which is received by about 11 thousand pensioners.
