ACV: Advances in Civil Aviation Efficiency

Montenegro ranks high among the 192 member states of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) in terms of the effective application of standards and recommended practices in the field of civil aviation security, the Civil Aviation Agency (CAA) announced.

"The official efficiency percentage of Montenegro in the field of civil aviation confirmed by ICAO is 87,99 percent, which is a huge improvement compared to the result from 2010 (64,71 percent)," the ACV announced.

They add that the latest ranking is the result of a comprehensive ICAO control visit, which was carried out in January of this year.

"Eight areas were controlled: legislation, organization, licensing of personnel, operations, airworthiness of aircraft, investigation of accidents and serious accidents, services in air navigation and airports. Most of the control was carried out in the Agency for Civil Aviation", said the CAA.

As announced, the control included, in addition to the Agency, aviation entities: Airports of Montenegro, Montenegro Airlines, Air Traffic Control of Serbia and Montenegro SMATSA, National Commission for the Investigation of Accidents and Serious Aircraft Accidents, as well as the Directorate for Emergency Situations and the Maritime Administration security.

"This ICAO control was the most important that the Agency has had since its establishment. We improved the results from 2010, when our Agency was at the very beginning of its work. Now Montenegro is positioned high among the countries with the most developed civil aviation and this is an exceptional success achieved in a short time. The application of ICAO standards, embodied in the Chicago Convention with more than 12.000 standards and recommended practices, along with the application of EU regulations, remains crucial for the international air connectivity of Montenegro," said the director of the Civil Aviation Agency, Dragan Đurović.

ACV announced that by comparison, looking at official data from the ICAO website, "Montenegro has a better percentage of efficiency than many developed countries of the European Union, and on the world level behind our country there are also some countries with a powerful aviation industry."
