Montenegro is the host country of the seventh Forum on International Cooperation, organized by one of the leading institutions in the field of civil aviation, the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA).
The fact that the Forum is being held for the first time in a country in the Western Balkans is proof of the importance and significance that EASA devotes to this region, EASA Executive Director Patrick Kee announced at the opening of the Forum in Budva.
"We're at a crossroads, because there's a lot of change going on in the Air Force right now. The recent Boeing 737 accidents have affected public confidence in aviation. It is our duty to maintain that trust and it is a job for all of us. Another important issue we deal with is sustainability and environmental protection. In Europe, there are even campaigns that condemn flying by plane, because of the negative impact on the environment," said Key.
For all these issues, he added, international and regional cooperation of all aviation entities will be of great importance.
At the opening of the Forum, the participants were greeted by the Minister of Sustainable Development and Tourism Pavle Radulović, who referred to the importance of the development of air transport in the context of our country as a tourist destination.
"We know that transport is an important link in the development of full tourist potential, and air transport is especially important to us, as the fastest growing form of transport. By that, I am not only referring to air accessibility and openness, but also to the safety and security of air traffic in Montenegro. It is precisely in this sphere that our host, the Civil Aviation Agency, plays a major role, thanks to whose efforts we have a respectable aviation authority today," said Radulović.
Director of the Civil Aviation Agency, Dragan Đurović, reminded that in the previous period, more than 130 normative acts were adopted, which implemented the regulations of the European Union in the field of air traffic into our legal system.
"The Civil Aviation Agency, as a system basis for the functioning of civil air traffic, has made Montenegro an equal and respected partner in international aviation associations for a decade of its existence," Đurović concluded.
The participants of the Forum, about 100 of them, are representatives of aviation authorities from 47 countries and during three days they will deal with numerous current aviation topics, such as the increase in air traffic, meeting environmental requirements, maintaining public trust in air traffic safety and further regional and technical cooperation. .
