According to the president of the Nikšić Željezara Tosčelik union, Željko Rabrenović, the management made a decision to reduce wages for all workers.
"They offered to reduce all of our salaries by 10 percent and that this applies until January 1, including this September. In that variant, only the first shift would work. The second proposal is that we all go home by January 1 and receive 70 percent of our salary ", said Rabrenović.
The union has scheduled a meeting with the workers for tomorrow at 14 p.m. in order to make a possible decision on the proposed proposals.
"The management reasoned that they had to make such a decision because of the crisis in the steel market in the automotive industry and the like. They want to cover their costs by deducting from the workers' salaries," Rabrenović pointed out.
According to him, they are especially worried about the contractors, and there are about 30 of them, because whenever such situations happened before, the employment contracts would always be terminated.
Rabrenović called on the Government and relevant ministries to help them because, as he said, the situation in Željezara had become unsustainable.
