The capital city's budget for the next year is planned in the amount of 93,7 million euros, which is about 23 percent more than this year's, announced the Secretary of Finance Miomir Jakšić.
At the central public debate on the Draft Decision on the Budget of the Capital City, he said that the budget is a record, but carefully and realistically planned.
"The main reason for this high rate of increase is that next year, the continuation of the construction of the waste water collection and treatment plant is planned at full capacity, for which EUR 21,1 million is earmarked," said Jakšić.
He announced, as reported by the Public Relations Bureau of the Capital City, that the current revenues fully cover the current expenses and the repayment of other obligations.
"Also, from current revenues we not only finance current expenditures but also capital projects, which is the goal of every good local self-government - to direct the collection of source revenues, when it comes to taxes and fees, into capital projects as much as possible," explained Jakšić.
He said that the financial resources planned for the next year constitute the largest budget that the capital has ever had.
"It is true that the budget in 2009 was 101 million euros, but it was rebalanced to 85 million. The valid budget is the one that has been completed and the one that remains in force through the rebalancing. The budget for the next year is the largest in planning so far, and we are confident that we will fully achieve it," concluded Jakšić.
