General Secretary and member of the SDP Presidency, Ivan Vujović, said that the DPS is using the pandemic to continue the "Snimak" affair.
"By refusing any control in the allocation of social assistance from the budget reserve in the election year, DPS has shown that, instead of helping citizens, its only key goal is the party's misuse of public money and the continuation of the Snimak affair. It is extremely immoral to use the pain of everyone in the current situation and obviously bad the intention, through the amendment of the Law on the Financing of Political Entities, to mask the alleged care for the citizens. At the same time, rejecting the SDP amendment that would eliminate all suspicions about the abuse of social benefits. Not only did they reject the well-intentioned proposal of the SDP, but they did not offer any other solution that would guarantee that the practice of misuse of public funds, for which the local government has long been recognized in international circles, will not continue," Vujović said.
He added that the work of the Budget Commission, which is supposed to objectively evaluate social assistance criteria, is permanently shrouded in secrecy.
"Whenever we asked them for information on where the state money that they share goes, the answer was always that it was secret information. As if we were talking about a secret society or the private money of a few officials, and not about the government commission and the funds of all citizens. They say from the DPS that we should trust them and that they will distribute the money fairly. If anyone was so naive before the "Envelope" affair that they believed in their "honesty" in handling money, definitely after that corruption scandal there is no one in Montenegro who takes their word for it. Nobody, not even those who vote for them," he said.
Vujović announced that yesterday we had the opportunity "to hear the deception of the representatives of the authorities that, allegedly according to the law, there is an obligation to inform about the social benefits of the Anti-corruption Committee and KAS, while the authors of those manipulations forgot to say that this obligation only applies to the period from announcing the election.
"After all this, how vainly and insincerely are the government's messages about supposed togetherness, solidarity and trust echoing. The political sclerosis is such that they are unable to reach an agreement regarding the payment of 200 euros in social benefits, in order to ensure that those who need it get that money the most necessary. At the same time, knowing that everyone in Montenegro knows that they will pay at least 50 times as much before the elections from black funds according to the formula of the famous "envelope". This government is not ready to invest even that much - in the minimum of trust that is more than necessary in the situation in where we are. We all know that the only thing they care about is election concerns. That is why, we once again call on all citizens in a state of social need to, along with the requests they send to the lower cabinet of the Government, also forward them to the opposition clubs. When they do not want to work together and trust, we will use the opportunity to test their alleged objectivity in action," concluded Vujović.
