Montenegro imports three times more beer than it exports

Montenegro imports beer three times more than it exports, brandy and spirits five times more than it exports, while only significantly more wine is exported than imported from alcoholic beverages.

This is shown by the data of the Statistics Administration Monstat on imports and exports for last year, submitted to "Vijesti".

Last year, the export of beer from Montenegro was worth 3,6 million euros, while the import of this popular alcoholic beverage amounted to 10,2 million euros.

The largest producer of beer in Montenegro, Nikšićka pivara is part of the international group "Molson Coors", which can produce "Nikšićka beer" in its breweries in other countries, including in the Apatina brewery in Serbia.

Significant export of beer in only three countries

According to Monstat data, Montenegro exports beer in significant quantities to only three countries - to Bosnia and Herzegovina for 1,36 million, to Albania for 1,07 million and to Kosovo for 860 thousand euros.

Montenegrin beer is exported to 14 other countries. Serbia, once the most important market, was exported last year for only 118 thousand. 57 worth of beer was exported to Australia, 55 to Germany, 45 to North Macedonia, and 18 to the United States. Montenegrin beer is also drunk in Sweden, where it was exported for almost nine thousand. Beer was exported to Norway for 507 euros, to Hungary for 316 euros, to Turkey for 211 euros, to Great Britain for 33 euros, and to Croatia for only 24 euros. Exports of beer worth two whole euros refer to Denmark. Although there are 230 countries and autonomous territories on the list of Monstat, there is also a category "miscellaneous" where 40 thousand euros worth of beer was exported.

Montenegro imports the most beer from Serbia, worth 6,2 million euros, while exports to that country barely exceed 100. The import of Dutch beer is worth 1,3 million euros, followed by German beers for 431 thousand, Slovenian beer for 385 thousand and Czech beer for 304 thousand. The import of beer from Romania was worth 263 thousand euros, followed by Mexican with 240 thousand, Polish with 232 thousand, French with 195 thousand, Belgian with 137 thousand, Hungarian with 118 thousand euros, Kosovo with 88 thousand, Croatian with 71 thousand and Spanish whose the import was worth 52 thousand euros.

Most of the wine went to Serbia, BiH and China

Last year, Montenegro exported wines for 13,6 million euros, while the import of this alcoholic beverage was 6,4 million. The most wine was exported to Serbia for 2,65 million euros, then to BiH for 1,51 million and to China for 32 million euros. A little over three million euros were exported to the remaining XNUMX countries.

Wines were exported to Kosovo for 825 thousand euros, to Croatia for 346 thousand, Germany for 346 thousand, the United States of America for 326 thousand, Albania for 325 thousand, Canada for 100 thousand, Poland for 97 thousand, Switzerland for 87 thousand euros, Slovenia for 54 thousand, Czech Republic and Austria for 46 thousand each... Wine was also exported to distant Japan for 32 thousand, Russia, France and Australia for 11 thousand each... Symbolic quantities were exported to Hong Kong for 981 euros, Norway for 143 euros, Chile for 28 euros, Ecuador for six euros, Sweden for four and Benin for only one euro.

Wine also imported from Botswana

The most wine was imported from Serbia for 1,7 million euros, followed by Italy with 1,44 million euros, North Macedonia with 1,2 million and France with 1,15 million. The remaining wine imports of around 2,5 million euros refer to 25 countries.

Wine imports from Croatia amounted to 929 thousand euros, while imports from Germany were worth 166 thousand, from BiH 106 thousand, Spain 82 thousand, Slovenia 74 thousand, Australia 62 thousand,... Symbolic quantities of wine were imported from Georgia for 845 euros, Great Britain 338 euros, South Africa 286, Ukraine 170, China 83 and from Botswana for 40 euros.

Most brandy is exported to Serbia, while spirits are imported from Britain

The export of brandy and other spirits was worth 1,78 million euros last year, while the import of these drinks was 8,6 million.

The most spirits were exported to Serbia for 1,07 million euros, followed by Spain with 240 thousand and the United States of America with 224 thousand euros.

Brandy and similar drinks were exported to Germany worth 67 thousand euros, to North Macedonia for 34 thousand, Croatia for 8,8 thousand, Poland for 7,7 thousand,... There was a symbolic export of these drinks to China in the amount of 424 euros , Kazakhstan for 88 euros, the Netherlands for 20 euros and Chile, where this export was worth only one euro.

The most strong alcoholic drink was imported from the United Kingdom for 2,15 million euros, followed by Serbia with 1,7 million and Italy with 1,02 million euros. The import of these drinks from France was worth 550 thousand euros, Ireland for 508 thousand, the United States of America for 392 thousand, BiH for 387 thousand, Croatia for 351 thousand, Slovenia for 288 thousand, Germany for 234 thousand, Mexico for 188 thousand, Poland for 182 thousand, Finland 100 thousand, Cuba 98 thousand, Sweden 76 thousand, Russia 57 thousand... Symbolic quantities of spirits were imported from Thailand for 200 euros, South Africa for 144 euros, Puerto Rico for 82 euros and from the Virgin Islands for 55 euros.
