The Ministry of Capital Investments and the Directorate for Hydrocarbons wished the consortium of companies Eni and Novatek, which today begins the first exploratory oil drilling in the Montenegrin sea, happy work, with the hope that it will contribute to the economic and ecological revival of Montenegro.
An online meeting where representatives of concessionaires, subcontractors and representatives of the Hydrocarbons Administration together with State Secretary Marko Perunović will be present will be held today, the Ministry of Capital Investments announced.
"Traditionally, before the start of drilling, a "PRE SPUD" meeting is held," the announcement states.
As they said, in practice the meeting is held at the plant, but, as they said, this time due to the pandemic and measures to prevent the spread of the Covid-19 virus, it will be held online via MS Teams.
"The meeting will discuss the project itself, the design of the well, the planned operations, safety and environmental protection measures both at the plant and in the Port of Bar, as well as measures to prevent the spread of the Covid-19 virus," according to the MKI statement.
In the announcement, they add that concessionaires have invested over 2.5 million euros in the program to prevent the spread of the virus.
"Exploratory drilling at a depth of 6.525 meters, in the sea between Bar and Ulcinj, will last four and a half to six months," the MKI announced.
They also said that after that, the potential of the deposit will be defined, in order to make the most of its capacity and to design the production method, which could come to life four to six years after the completion of the first well.
