The Movement for Change requested today that the Assembly urgently form a Working Group for the development of the Energy Development Strategy of Montenegro with zero CO2 emissions until 2030.
This was requested by an amendment to the Proposal for a resolution on the optimal construction of a free, prosperous and European Montenegro, 6 - Green energy, submitted to the parliamentary procedure by the president and deputy president of PzP, Nebojša Medojević and Branko Radulović.
This Resolution proposal is in the procedure from December 9, 2020.
"The multidisciplinary working group would be made up of experts and representatives of the Parliament of Montenegro, the Government of Montenegro, energy companies, the Chamber of Commerce, the NGO sector, the academic community and international organizations. In this way, the general social and professional consensus on the most important Montenegrin resource and the development possibilities of this sector. The strategy would be aligned with the new green energy policy of the European Union," PzP announced.
With this, as they added, they would show their readiness to significantly earlier than the deadlines proclaimed by the Paris Agreement and EU decisions, Montenegro reach the zero rate of CO2 emissions and thus receive more significant support from international financial funds for the green energy transition in Montenegro.
"The document must be adopted before the climate summit in Glasgow," said the PzP.
The implementation of the Energy Development Strategy of Montenegro with zero CO2 emissions by 2030 could, as they state, initiate a large and sustainable investment cycle worth more than four billion euros in the next 5-6 years, which would enable the production of around 6.000 GWh of "green of electricity".
"It should be borne in mind that the demand and the price of production and the profit of 'green electricity' will increase over time. Investments should be realized in 'depth', so that the demand in this period will be as high as possible in Montenegro. In parallel with the development of the Strategy, it is necessary to review the quality of existing documentation, projects and started investments. It is also necessary to start and intensify conversations with neighbors and international institutions about achieving optimal solutions," said the PzP.
Medojević and Radulović, as they stated, are ready to actively participate and coordinate activities in this most significant development undertaking without any financial compensation.
