We can say that we have reached a truce until the end of the harvest, we are not giving up on the demands we set, the general strike is frozen until the harvest comes to an end, and until then we expect concrete moves by the new Board of Directors, announced today from the Strike Committee of the company "13. July Plantation".
"This is, we hope, our last announcement for the public until the harvest is over, and we believe that then the situation will be much clearer regarding our demands from the strike and the situation in the company itself," according to the announcement of the strike committee of the company "July 13 Plantaže" signed by Anka Knežević, Mirko Marković, Danka Drakić Krstović, Nebojša Ralević and Marko Kovačević.
They also said that they "promised not to jeopardize the company's operations with a general strike, given that the peach harvest is reaching its climax, and the harvest of table grapes and then wine grapes will soon begin, but they say that they will closely monitor every move of the current management and if they notice any deviation from the agreement they reached, we will react appropriately".
They said that "they are notorious falsehoods that the Syndicate of the company "13. jul Plantaže" unilaterally terminated communication with the management of the company".
"It is true that the Trade Union repeatedly requested a meeting with the former Board of Directors, they replied that they were not competent and referred us to the Executive Director Miroslav Vuković. The Executive Director replied that all further negotiations with the Trade Union were unnecessary. In addition, by his actions, which are aimed directly at the workers, brought their dissatisfaction to a boiling point, which resulted in a warning strike," the announcement states.
They added that as far as the meeting with the Board of Directors is concerned, for the first time they received some concrete information from them.
"We believe that the warning strike organized in front of our company's building on June 23 of the current year contributed significantly to this. We will not talk about the steps that the management plans to implement in connection with the recovery of our company, we leave it to them if they feel the need for it. Regarding our first and of the main demand from the warning strike (replacement of the current executive director) they did not tell us anything specific, between the lines we saw that until the end of the harvest, that is, until the end of this production year, there will be no changes regarding the executive director and the secretary of the company. We see no reason why would the dismissal of anyone, especially the CEO, who contributed to the bad state of the company, have a bad effect on the business of the company. We are of the opposite opinion, that the dismissal would lead to a strong momentum and motivate all workers to give their best to successfully end the harvest. The Board of Directors approved the Executive Director's negotiations with the Trade Union regarding the Collective Agreement, even though it is before the Constitutional and Commercial Court. We have accepted the negotiations, and time will tell how they will unfold. They promised to talk to Vuković and review some of the decisions he made with his colleagues, as well as to influence him not to show his revenge against the workers in the form of changing jobs, pressure, blackmail or something similar," the statement reads. of the strike committee of the company "13. July Plantation".
