Implementation of the project "Heating Pljevlja - for clean and warm Pljevlja" begins

The Electric Power Company of Montenegro is starting the implementation of the project "Heating Pljevlja - for clean and warm Pljevlja".

It is a project that, as they stated, has been waiting for 40 years. At the last meeting, the EPCG Board of Directors made a decision on the start of the realization of that investment.

It is about the construction of the primary heat pipe from the Pljevlja Thermal Power Plant, which will be the heat source after the realization of the ecological reconstruction, to the city, which will create the conditions to connect the existing infrastructure to the heat source and to provide the perspective that in the second and third phases that heat branch spreads across the city, EPCG announced.

Executive Director of EPCG Nikola Rovčanin said that there is no need to talk about the effects of the investment.

"It's a matter of waiting for a decade for a healthy environment, which will allow Pljevlja to finally, after so many decades, create the conditions for a healthy environment by shutting down numerous boiler houses in the city center and numerous individual fireplaces. Precisely at those elevations, which are the lowest in the basin, will be solved "I am convinced that more than 50 percent of the problems are solved in the first phase when connecting to the existing heating infrastructure," said Rovčanin.

EPCG points out that the second effect is very important, not only for Pljevlja, that company, but also for the state, in view of the closure of Chapter 27 - environment and pre-accession negotiations with the EU, which is environmental protection.

"The third effect is very important for the utility company, which will probably be a supplier of thermal energy, which will have financial effects. And the price of thermal energy will be lower for all citizens of the Municipality of Pljevlja," emphasized Rovčanin.

From EPCG, they state that the dynamics of the project's realization is well established and that the formation of a commission is in progress from representatives of EPCG, the Municipality of Pljevlja and the Public Works Administration. It is planned to start the works at the beginning of next year, and the realization is expected in a few months from the beginning, the company said.

The Director of Thermal Power Plant "Pljevlja" Dobrilo Gačević states that part of the steam will be taken from the plant and will be sent to the city via the main water line.

"The main line is 4,5 to 4,7 kilometers long. The power that is taken from the deep-sea plant is 40MW. The key effects of the project are, in addition to the environmental, which is immeasurable for the city, there is also an economic, i.e. energy, because it will part of the primary energy to be saved on everything that is consumed in the city, on heating and the coal components that are consumed for that, will be saved and the overall efficiency of the power plant as an energy facility will be raised," Gačević points out.

The EPCG reminds that the ecological reconstruction of the "Pljevlja" thermal power plant, whose project is worth 54 million euros, will soon begin, that part of the project for the phased reclamation of the Maljevac landfill worth 20 million euros is coming to an end, while the relocation of the Pališko potok "finally provides a clean Ćehotina river".

"With these projects, the citizens will finally have a cleaner, healthier and warmer Pljevlja," EPCG concluded.
