Ulcinj is Montenegro's biggest development opportunity for the year 2030, and the Government wants that city to become a major regional center of tourism, said Deputy Prime Minister Dritan Abazović.
He was on a working visit to the Municipality of Ulcinj with the Minister of Economic Development, Jakov Milatović, where, in the presence of the director of the Directorate for Inspection Affairs, Ilir Harasani, and the president of the "Morski dobr" Administrative Property, Blaža Radjenović, they spoke with the hoteliers and tenants of the swimming pool there.
Abazović stated, as announced by the cabinet of four officials, that this year's summer tourist season exceeded all expectations and that it is obvious that hoteliers, restaurateurs and tenants of the swimming pool in Ulcinj are very satisfied with what was achieved. Stating that the Government's ambition for Ulcinj is great, Abazović emphasized the Government's efforts to ensure that guests in that city continue to feel safe, comfortable and safe.
Milatović pointed out that in July, according to the data of the Police Administration, about 740.000 foreigners entered Montenegro, and that this is at the level of 2019, while in the first 15 days of August, 380.000 foreigners entered Montenegro, which is a five percent increase. more compared to 2019.
"When we came out in March with estimates of what this year will be like, it seems to me that few people believed that our forecasts, which were considered optimistic at the time, would be exceeded. All this is the result of the correct and timely decisions of the Government of Montenegro, which gives us the right to say with great satisfaction that tourism in Montenegro has recovered and that the recovery of tourism has led to the recovery of the entire economic activity," said Milatović.
He added that, when the line is drawn at the end of September, they will have a good foundation to think about capital and infrastructure projects for the next year, in order to enter the next year as adequately and better as possible, and every year after that, when it comes to tourism. in Montenegro. Milatović assessed that this year has shown certain structural problems and all deficiencies that must be resolved as quickly and urgently as possible.
"Only through joint work and efforts, with a common vision to live better, to stay in our country and not leave, but to create a society that rewards work, effort and education. The only key to sustainable economic development is to create a good business environment without corruption and racketeering, where the state is a service for citizens and the economy, and where all citizens will self-consciously and arbitrarily pay taxes, knowing that by doing so they get roads, schools, hospitals, and infrastructure," he stressed. is Milatović.
Harasani emphasized that before the season he agreed with the tenants of the beaches to be tidy and pay dues, and that the inspection is more preventive than repressive.
"Through preventive action, but also by repressive action against those who performed illegal activities, we preserved loyal competition. I experience it as a personal satisfaction that in Ulcinj we had the fewest fines, and that at the same time the most taxes and duties were paid. The inspection and economic workers should be partners, not opponents."
Rađenović pointed out, as stated in the announcement, that the inscriptions that have been appearing in the media lately are unsubstantiated, especially when it comes to the Municipality of Ulcinj and the responsibility of the Maritime Dobr.
"The Public Enterprise for the Management of the Maritime Assets of Montenegro has allocated funds in the amount of 2021 euros in the 1.300.000,00 Plan for the use of resources for a series of projects and renovations in the mentioned territory, which clearly shows our readiness and will to improve the quality of the most beautiful part of our It is important to point out that JP 'Morsko dobro' has concluded a contract with JP 'Communal Services' of the Municipality of Ulcinj, in the amount of 242.000,00 euros, which is double the amount compared to the previous period, which clearly shows that certain reckless statements of individuals are aimed at the wrong address. One of the future projects that we consider to be extremely important for Ulcinj, which represents a respectable economic-tourist potential, is the development of nautical tourism."
"We hope that with the guidelines of the State Location Study and cooperation with the local self-government, we will determine an adequate location for this type of tourism, taking into account the natural potential of this part of our coast. The new management of the Public Enterprise for the Management of the Maritime Assets of Montenegro will strive for decentralization, because only in cooperation with the local population can we change the bad image that has been valid for years when it comes to JPMD," the announcement concludes.
Abazović: Many wanted the season to fail, none of that
Abazović assessed that the season in Ulcinj was perfect and exceeded all expectations.
"Ulcinj has never had a stronger peak season, I claim that responsibly and I hope it will last until the first of September. Incomes are much higher than public statistics want to show. I was convinced of this today by the restaurateurs and hoteliers I spoke with who are satisfied with the season," said Abazović at the press conference.
"Apart from the traditional problems with traffic congestion, lack of parking or noise, no major problems have been recorded in Ulcinj during the course of the season so far," said Abazović. He reminded that the Institute for Public Health will propose new measures on August 20 and stated that the Government was trying to find the best balance between the economic interest of the state and the health of citizens.
"The delta strain of the coronavirus appeared, but we are witnessing that today Montenegro has a million or more inhabitants. It is certain that a large number of people have numerous daily contacts, that's why I appeal for vaccination", said Abazović.
Milatović said that this is the year of the pandemic and that it should not be compared with the record 2019.
Abazović said that it is not true that Montenegro has become a "tomato destination". He emphasized that "many wanted this season to fail, but nothing of that sort".
"Only demagoguery and politicking. If we are a tomato destination, why in Montenegro and Ulcinj, in restaurants, you don't have water under two euros, and beer up to three and a half euros. "Why do you no longer have accommodation in Ulcinj for five or seven euros, but for 25. Nobody asks for the price, only if there is a vacancy," said Abazović.
Milatović stated that the tourist who does not come at all spends the least.
Abazović said that Montenegro has no more developed economic branch than tourism.
"I am proud that guests of all religions and nations came to Ulcinj this year. And for showing that they are above political events," said Abazović.
