The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management has so far supported around 50 projects in the field of rural infrastructure in Montenegro, in the amount of EUR 650,58 thousand, through support programs for village development and infrastructure construction.

They said that during August and September, a part of the request submitted by local self-governments in the amount of 507,5 thousand EUR was paid both for solving the water supply issue and for the reconstruction or rehabilitation of over 50 kilometers of roads.

"This is for asphalting new roads, filling dirt roads, rehabilitation of existing macadam roads, rehabilitation of bridges, filling mountain roads, as well as adaptation and modernization of existing road routes", the Ministry announced.

During October and November, as they said, it is planned to support 17 projects submitted by the municipalities of Bar, Cetinje, Danilovgrad, Herceg Novi, Kolašin, Mojkovac, Golubovci, Tivat and Tuzi in the total amount of EUR 244,25 thousand.

The Ministry announced that EUR 143,28 thousand has been paid so far for 25 projects related to individual requests from individual villages, local communities and individual agricultural producers to solve water supply issues, rehabilitation and reconstruction of road infrastructure.

In addition to the projects implemented so far, the Ministry in cooperation with the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) is implementing the project of creating clusters and developing rural areas RTCP.

This project is being implemented in Nikšić, Žabljak, Bijelo Polje, Mojkovac, Petnjica and Berane.

"Through this measure, the asphalting of new 17 kilometers of rural roads will be implemented this year, along with the construction of seven to eight new water reservoirs - the foil system," the announcement says.

The public call was published on July 16 and lasted until August 5.

The Ministry states that municipalities had the right to apply for support through two options - road infrastructure and investments in water supply.

In the following period, as stated in the announcement, there will be an administrative and field control procedure, after which a public call for the selection of contractors will be announced and the project will be implemented.

The ministry, as they say, is dedicated to improving living conditions in rural areas and improving infrastructure.

By supporting the construction of roads and the water supply network, as they said from that department, conditions are created for the village to develop further and for farmers to be given a chance to improve their production.

"Construction of dairies, butchers, cold stores and distribution centers is impossible without a quality road network and stable water supply. A good road infrastructure and irrigation system are the basis for the further development of agriculture, which we are working on", the Ministry states.

As they added, support for investments of this type also attracts foreign investors who want to invest in the sector of primary agricultural production and processing of agricultural products.

"Good connectivity with urban areas lowers transportation costs, and that's what makes production even more competitive. In this way, the state sends a clear message to young people to stay on their farms and start their own businesses in the agricultural sector with better conditions and connections to the market," the announcement concludes.
