SNP: Support for tax reform, look at long-term sustainability

The Socialist People's Party (SNP) supported the "Europe Now" project presented yesterday by the Ministry of Finance and Social Welfare, which announced an increase in the minimum and average wages in Montenegro, as well as the abolition of health insurance contributions on wages, and non-taxation of wages up to the gross amount of 700 euros.

However, they point out that it is necessary to elaborate these measures in more detail, in order to know their long-term effects on the economy, especially with regard to the impact on the health system and its functioning, that is, that all aspects of such an undertaking must be looked at, "keeping in mind the long-term sustainability of the announced measures ".

As announced by the SNP, it is necessary to consult employers from the private sector on this issue and hear how the mentioned tax reform will affect their business.

"Since its establishment, the Socialist People's Party of Montenegro has been advocating for the reform of the tax system, a better standard of citizens and a safer future for them. Therefore, we consider the above measures to be welcome, with the warning that their sustainability should be considered in the long run," the announcement concludes.
