Agriculture, along with the development of rural tourism and the valorization of wood processing, is a great development opportunity for Petnjica, said the Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management, Aleksandar Stijović, adding that the department will continue to provide support in the future in order to utilize these potentials.
Today, Stijović was in Petnjica together with State Secretary Nebojš Veličković and Director of the Directorate for Agriculture Miroslav Cimbaljević, where he opened the traditional 21st fair of agricultural and domestic handicrafts.
The fair is organized under the auspices of the Ministry, the municipality and the Tourism Organization of Petnjica in cooperation with a network of non-governmental organizations.
Stijović said that the enthusiasts of Petnjica, together with agricultural producers and with the help of the local government, made a great effort to ensure that the fair not only preserves the tradition, but that it is at an ever-increasing level from year to year.
According to the announcement, he pointed out that agriculture, along with the development of rural tourism, and the valorization of hydro potential and wood processing, is a great development opportunity for Petnjica and said that the Ministry will continue to provide support in the future in order to use these potentials.
As stated, Stijović particularly emphasized the good examples in livestock and crop production in the municipality, which despite the drought and the year of the pandemic made an effort and achieved significant results.
"The ministry has and will continue to listen to the needs of producers in Petnjica. In addition to the implementation of regular agro-budgetary measures, this year the ministry invested significant funds for infrastructure in this municipality," Stijović said.
He said that they made a promise and kept their word.
"This is just the beginning, from this point I want to tell agricultural producers that they will have a permanent and responsible partner in the Ministry who will listen to their needs," Stijović said.
Agović said that the fair has been going on for two decades, whose exhibitors and friends Petnjica welcomes with pride.
As it was reported, he expressed his special gratitude to Stijović, who provides strong support to the Municipality, stressing that all the promises made have been fulfilled, and said that the Municipality achieves the best cooperation with the Ministry in continuity.
"The promise for 70.000 euros, which the Ministry decided for the completion of the Murovsko vrelo water supply system, has been fulfilled. We received 30.000 euros for support in infrastructure development. We have a promise from the minister that a solution will be found for the water supply of the locals in Javorova", said Agović.
The president of the organizing committee, Sabahate Novalić, said that the fair is an indicator that Montenegrin villages are alive and that agricultural products, with their quality, give a chance for agriculture to go on an upward trajectory and to improve production in a better way.
She, as stated, pointed out that the organizers are making great efforts to ensure that such fairs must not be shut down, because, as she added, they are a good opportunity to promote and find a market for products under the slogan "Hello from the North" and "Good from Montenegro".
The Ministry reminds that the traditional 21st fair is for the second year of international character and gathers participants from nine municipalities from the north, but also participants from the central and southern parts of Montenegro, as well as numerous guests from the region.
As they stated, the fair has a sales and educational character.
