The Central Bank (CBCG) will implement the Savings Week campaign again this year, under the slogan First step to a secure future.
CBCG implements the campaign for the 18th time in a row, on the occasion of World Savings Day, which is celebrated today.
"The campaign, which includes giving away the first savings to babies born in the period from October 31 to November 6, has traditionally been joined by all commercial banks operating in Montenegro," according to the statement of the CBCG.
To all children born during the Savings Week, whose parents open a savings book in one of the Montenegrin commercial banks, the CBCG gives 200 euros each, and the commercial bank that the parents chose, gives another 200 euros along with the savings book.
"In this way, all children born in the mentioned period receive their first savings as a gift, in the total amount of 400 euros," said the CCBG.
The deposited amount of a total of 400 euros will be fixed for a year, and after the end of that period, the parents can withdraw the money or deposit it again into savings.
Parents can open a savings account only in one of the commercial banks, with the identity card of both parents and the birth certificate for the newborn child.
"Thanks to this campaign, in the previous 17 years, close to 2,5 thousand babies received their first savings, for which the CBCG allocated an amount of around 500 thousand euros," the statement added.
CBCG, as part of Savings Week, also organizes educational activities for young people - workshops in Montenegrin elementary schools on the topic of money, savings, banking and banking products, as well as online lectures for high school students.
"This year, the CBCG also publishes the first issue of the CBCG financial entertainer, a magazine for children and youth, on the topic of savings, which will be distributed to schools in a printed version, and is also available in PDF format on the CBCG website," the announcement concludes.
