The proposal for changes to the Law on Pension and Disability Insurance (PIO), which is in the parliamentary procedure, needs to be adopted as soon as possible, due to the bad situation in the mining and metal sector, was evaluated at the meeting of Labor Party MP Maksim Vučinić and workers of the Aluminum Plant.

Vučinić appealed to his colleagues from the parliamentary majority and executive authorities to unreservedly support the proposed law and actively participate in solving the problems of KAP workers.

Vučinić, as announced by the Assembly, met with KAP workers regarding the current problems in that factory, which are the result of a long-term bankruptcy procedure and its unannounced termination.

The workers received an interpretation from the bankruptcy trustee Veselin Perišić that their recognized claims based on beneficial service from January 1, 2006 to July 8, 2013, which in total for all workers amount to around eight million euros, are not included in the first and second payment ok, already in the third

"In accordance with the Bankruptcy Law, the second payment order contains claims based on contributions for pension and disability insurance of employees and former employees, which were not included in the first payment order. After the introduction of bankruptcy, the workers continued to work in the same workplaces under the same conditions in the production process, with the promise of the bankruptcy administration that the insurance period will be counted with an increased duration and that the bankruptcy procedure will be fast and efficient," the announcement states.

The representatives of the trade union organization KAP recalled that they addressed the President of the Commercial Court, Blaž Jovanić, regarding this problem, considering that the bankruptcy administrator violated the Bankruptcy Law, but that they were denied an answer.

"Also, they emphasized that the management of KAP does not want to act according to the still valid Rulebook on determining workplaces, i.e. jobs where the insurance period is calculated with increased duration and the procedure and method for their determination," the announcement concludes.
