At today's session, the government did not make a final decision regarding the extension of the model of issuing Montenegrin passports for investment in some of the development projects in the field of tourism, economy or agriculture, but it was decided to carry out additional consultations on this matter, it was confirmed to the "News" by a source from Governments.
The proposal of the Ministry of Economic Development (MER) was a gradual exit from this program, which would imply its extension for another year or a little longer, that is, to extend it for an objective reason, in order to give investors additional time to complete projects.
The position of the Ministry of Economic Development is that, in the event of an additional deadline, the conditions for investors would be tightened, which implies that they must provide bankable bank guarantees, which would be in favor of the state, if they do not complete the project.
In addition, the conditions for issuing passports for applicants would become more expensive, because, in addition to the 100.000 euros, which they were required to pay into a special Escrow account for the development of less developed municipalities, they would have to additionally pay another 100.000 euros, which would be directed to the newly established Innovation Fund.
"The government has decided to hold additional consultations regarding this issue," said the "Vijesti" source.
