The state plans to implement the project of maintaining the Kamenari-Lepetane ferry line in the future through a private-public partnership, and not, as before, through a concession contract, said the State Secretary in the Ministry of Capital Investments, Zoran Radunović.

In Radio Montenegro's program for seafarers, he said that the Directorate of Maritime Safety and Port Management will announce a tender in the next few days for the preparation of a feasibility study that precedes the conclusion of a private-public partnership.

The Ministry of Capital Investments asked the Ministry of Finance for an opinion on which model to call a tender for organizing maritime transport on the Kamenari-Lepetane ferry line, the RTCG portal reports.

Radunović added that the recommendation of the Ministry of Finance was that, instead of a concession, it should be a private-public partnership.

A number of renowned companies are already showing interest in the maritime line across the Veriga Strait, which until now had the monopoly of Maritime Transport.

At the end of the previous year, representatives of the famous Damen visited Montenegro. Then they announced, as Radunović recalled, that they were interested in organizing maritime intercity liner transportation in Boka.

Radunović said that the Ministry of Capital Investments has already received approval in principle from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) for the project to deepen the water area of Port Bar.

For the final approval of the project, for which the EBRD will donate 50 percent of the funds, it is necessary to submit technical documentation to that financial institution.
