The Mimosa Festival was opened last night in Herceg Novi, and today this traditional tourist event was visited by the Minister of Economic Development Jakov Milatović.
He pointed out that the Mimosa Festival is a good announcement for the upcoming summer season in the city under Orjena.
"If you know the day by the morning - then the Mimosa Festival is a good announcement for the upcoming summer season in Herceg Novi. Thank you to the people of Novlja for keeping the tradition in honor of this wonderful flower that has been going on for 53 years," wrote Milatović on Twitter.
The mimosa, fish and wine festival of the 53rd Mimosa Festival today attracted thousands of visitors to the Hercegovina Riviera, Mediabiro reports.
They add that the festival started with a parade of Herceg Novi City Music, Đenović Local Music, majorettes, trombonists and clowns along the coastal road from Kumbor, through Đenović to Baošić. The central ceremony was organized in front of the Baošići Cultural Center, where the new klapa Stari Kapitan performed, followed by a concert by Nenad Knežević Knez on the stage of the Đenović Cultural Center. Numerous domestic and foreign guests enjoyed the beautiful day, tasted fish and delicacies prepared by housewives from the Riviera, as well as wine and beer provided by the traditional sponsors of the festival, the companies "Plantaže 13. Jul" and "Nikšićko pivo - pivara Trebjesa". In several places along the Riviera, mimosas are traditionally given as gifts.
"If the Festival is known from the beginning, I believe that our festival will be successful", said the director of JUK "Herceg-fest" Gordana Porobić Krcunović and looked back on last night's concert by Neda Ukraden, which, as she said, gathered a large number of visitors and exceeded all expectations.

As announced by the president of the local community of Baošići, Đuro Cvjetković, he said that the Mimosa Festival is the tradition and spirit of Baošići and the Herzegovina Riviera, as well as the whole of Montenegro.
"This Holiday will leave a good impression, considering that we haven't had it since 2020 due to the epidemiological situation. We are happy and satisfied, and I can say that we did not expect this much attendance. We will continue to cherish this Mimosa Holiday, in order to transfer this tradition to future generations," he said.
The mimosa festival represents something special and has a very long tradition, said the famous musician Nenad Knežević Knez. They also add that he remembered the previous Mimosa Festival, the big caravans, and expressed his pleasure at being part of this event again.
"It's always a great atmosphere here, and it's something people love and are used to. After a year and a half break in performances, this Holiday gave us the opportunity to perform again".
The mimosa festival in Herceg Novi will last until mid-March, and over 40 entertainment, cultural and sports programs have been prepared.
