The minimum consumer basket for February this year amounts to 693,7 euros, according to data from the Monstat Administration for Statistics.
Of that number, expenditures for food and non-alcoholic beverages were 311,6 euros, while expenditures for non-food products and services amounted to 382,1 euros.
In the food section, the highest costs were for milk, cheese and eggs 78,6 euros, for meat 63,9 euros, and for vegetables 55,9 euros.
Compared to January, the minimum consumer basket increased by 1,9 percent or almost 13 euros in February.
"Expenditures for food and non-alcoholic beverages in February 2022, compared to January 2022, recorded a growth of 2,9 percent, while expenditures for non-food products and services, compared to January 2022, recorded a growth of 1,0 .XNUMX percent", it was announced from Monstat.
When the data is compared with February last year, the consumer basket is larger by 46,8 euros, or by 7,23 percent.
The minimum consumption basket refers to household consumption that includes food and non-food products and services, which enables the maintenance of life and working abilities of household members.
"The value of the minimum consumer basket is based on survey data on household consumption and World Bank recommendations. The value of the minimum consumer basket for a household of four consists of the minimum monthly expenses related to food and non-alcoholic beverages and non-food products and services", announced Monstat.
Average prices in the current month and monthly quantities in kilograms for a household of four are used to calculate the minimum expenses related to food and non-alcoholic beverages. Consumer price indexes (CPI) are used to calculate the value of a basket of non-food products and services.
