Montenegro strives to become a center of innovation in blockchain technology, with an emphasis on all the advantages of a legitimate industry that will be brought by attractive regulations, announced the Minister of Finance and Social Welfare, Milojko Spajić.
He hosted a delegation of eminent world experts, who came to help the Ministry in drafting the legal regulations necessary to attract investments in this sector.
As announced by the Ministry, Vitalik Buterin, Vlad Zamfir, Anuj Das Gupta, Boris Mamlyk, Tianhing Zhen, John Haskell and Johnatan Levi are currently residing in Montenegro, who, together with Spajić, will participate on Wednesday in a panel on crypto currencies and blockchain.
During the meeting, Spajić emphasized the importance of regulating this area for attracting capital, but also protecting users and investors.
“The incredible opportunities that blockchain technology provides must be exploited. It is not recognized in our legislation and that is precisely why we want to create a law, better than the best, that currently exists in the world and be a leader in digitalization of finances. I am convinced that we will be able to attract billions of euros of investment and open thousands of well-paid jobs for our young people," believes Spajić.
He also referred to the working conditions brought by the new environment.
"We will enable everyone who has innovative ideas and the will to realize them, to use new and alternative sources of financing. Also, approximate salaries in this sector are up to ten times higher than the average salary in Montenegro. In order to have clear legal frameworks that will create a clear and efficient path, our friends will help us, who are practically the creators of the crypto world as we know it today", said Spajić.
He said that with attractive but strict legislation, the priority remains the reduction of the gray economy in all areas and the monitoring of cash flows.
"Montenegro strives to become a center of innovation in blockchain technology with an emphasis on all the benefits of a legitimate industry that will be brought by attractive regulations. "We are committed to bringing those involved in criminal activities in this sector to justice, potentially using any means provided by law," Spajić said.
The Ministry stated that the name of the panel on Wednesday will be "The Future Now!" A new era of Montenegrin finances".
"Due to great interest, the original location was changed to a hall in the University Sports and Culture Center, so that as many people as possible would have the opportunity to attend the event. For those who are not able to attend, a transmission is provided through a link that we will send in due time," said the Ministry.
