Proposals for amendments to the law on excise duties, which should reduce this duty on fuel, as well as amendments to the law on value added tax, which would reduce VAT on flour, oil and salt, will be reconsidered by the Ministry of Finance and proposed to the Government, probably at the next session in Wednesday and Thursday next week.
However, considering that the implementation of these changes in the law requires the adoption of by-laws, the question is when the long-awaited reduction in the prices of these products will occur.
The existing proposals of the former government, to reduce the excise duty on fuel by 40 percent, VAT on flour and oil from seven percent to zero, and on salt from 21 to seven percent, have been archived, which is required by the regulations on the work of the Assembly when a new Parliament is elected. Government. Fuel prices would be lower by 22 to 27 cents, oil by about 15 cents, flour and salt by about five cents. In the procedure are almost identical proposals of the MPs of the opposition SD, with the only difference being to reduce excise duties on fuel by 50 percent.
Head of government Dritan Abazovic at yesterday's session, he said that there are laws that need to be sent to the Parliament urgently, and they mostly concern economic policy.
"I call on the Minister of Finance to react in a short time and help the citizens," Abazović said.
Minister Aleksandar Damjanović said that he gave basic instructions "to start with that story", in order to arrive at a proposal for an act that will be sent to the parliament.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Rasko Konjević announced that, according to his information, the session of the Assembly could continue on Friday, which, he said, means that the amendments, if there are any from the Government, should be adopted by Thursday.
The problem is that these new proposals for changes to the law must pass parliamentary committees. Two members of the previous committee for the economy have moved to the Government, the chairman of the committee Vladimir Jokovic and Konjević. This means that the Assembly would first have to fill the committee and elect a new president, who would schedule the session.
