The legislative committee gave the green light to amendments to the law on excise duties, which should lower excise duties on fuel, as well as to amendments to the law on value added tax, which would reduce VAT on flour, oil and salt.
"The goal of this law is to affect the price limit of oil derivatives and to affect the living standards of citizens," explained Finance Minister Aleksandar Damjanović.
The board also gave the green light for amendments to the VAT Act.
Damjanović requested that the committee define that the law enters into force on the day of its publication in the Official Gazette, which was accepted.
At the beginning of the debate on this item on the agenda, Deputy Democrat Vladimir Martinović challenged the right of the Minister of Finance to explain this bill on behalf of the proponent, explaining that it was proposed by the former government.
Damjanović explained that the new government stood by this bill and informed the Legislative Committee about it in writing, which was confirmed by Committee President Maja Vukićević and the Committee's expert service.
"There is no legal dilemma regarding this. The government sent a letter in which it states that it stands by these proposals," explained Damjanović, recalling the practice and similar situations from the period when he was a deputy.
Martinović assessed that it was not in accordance with business procedures, so he left the session.
Vukićević said that her opinion about the new Government is known, but that the letter that the Government sent them, which decided to start the discussion, was valid.
Damjanović said that the committee is discussing this bill for the first time, and he announced the amendments
