Damjanović: Improving the business environment will be a priority for attracting quality investments

The energy sector, especially renewable energy sources, infrastructure development, services and project management, with expert advisory support, are areas in which Montenegro and the United Kingdom can strengthen cooperation and where British expertise would be of great importance, was the conclusion of the meeting of Finance Minister Aleksandar Damjanović and British Ambassador to Montenegro Karen Maddox.

The press release from this government department states that Damjanović thanked the British Embassy for the continuous support it provides to the Secretariat of the Competitiveness Council and pointed out that the Government will provide full institutional support to the work of the Council, through additional strengthening of its capacities.

"Improving the business environment will be a priority for attracting quality investments," stressed Damjanović.

Maddox, as stated, expressed readiness for the United Kingdom to provide expert assistance and transfer of experience in creating improved customs procedures, border control and other areas of importance on the way to progress.

The statement adds that they also discussed the common challenges faced by all countries in the period of changes in the international order, caused by the coronavirus and the state of war in Ukraine, as well as the application of economic sanctions against Russia.

Madox, they added, wished Damjanović success in his work, evaluating his previous involvement in the Customs and Revenue Administration (UPC) as very successful, with the expectation that good cooperation will continue.
