The Ministry of Economic Development and Tourism is preparing a by-law within the framework of the law on temporary measures to limit the prices of products of special importance for people's life and health, and there is no deadline for its preparation, the department he manages told "Vijesta" Goran Đurović.

They clarified that the law prescribes the adoption of a by-law in two cases, namely when there is a serious disruption in the market that can be caused by natural disasters, pandemics, etc. and when there is extremely high price growth.

"In that sense, there is no deadline for drafting a by-law, but the law begins to apply when these two cases are activated on the market," said the ministry.

The ministry did not respond to the question of whether some of the provisions of the law will soon be applied in order to limit the prices of certain products.

The Parliament adopted the mentioned law on May 10, and some opposition MPs and the authorities criticized it, considering that it is not applicable and sustainable, because it did not specify the situations when temporary measures will be implemented, as well as the fact that the law does not define a deadline related to how long the price restrictions will last.

In addition, the MPs pointed out that within the framework of the law, it is necessary to introduce subsidies for businessmen, so that they would not remain at a loss when limiting prices.

Đurović said in the Assembly that the law provides for the creation of a legal framework for limiting prices in cases of serious inflationary risks, as well as market disturbances. As he explained, the products that will be on the list will depend on the Government's assessment at the given moment, and that the measures that the Government can prescribe in order to limit prices are the determination of the maximum retail price, the fixed price of the product and the margin. He noted that all measures will be taken in agreement with the economy.
