A more rational and responsible management of financial policies is very important, announced the Minister of Finance Aleksandar Damjanović, and added that this is precisely one of the defining principles that will be used to guide this government department.
At the meeting with the permanent representative of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), Daniela Gašparikova, Damjanović pointed out the importance of more responsible planning and execution of the development part of the budget, which will be given additional attention in the coming period.
"Continuing the implementation of the project Strengthening transparent and responsible management of public finances in Montenegro with the support of Slovakia, which is implemented by UNDP and the Ministry of Finance, will strive for the recovery and strengthening of society, while striving for a more open state administration", was assessed at the meeting.
Gašparikova, as announced by the Ministry, assessed that this project is one of the key ones in the field of public administration reform, noting that open and responsible management of public finances is the focus of UNDP's work.
She praised the Government's intention to focus more on the green economy and the consideration of issuing green bonds, appreciating that this is an area for which Montenegro has great potential, and in which it will have the support of UNDP.
Damjanović explained that the Government's aspiration is to use these potentials better, following the green agenda of the European Union (EU) and Agenda 2030, as well as to ultimately achieve a degree of energy self-sufficiency, that is, independence.
"In the context of better management of green energy, Damjanović also conveyed the interest of investors in the area of energy production from solar sources and waste processing, for which it is necessary to additionally activate and strengthen interdepartmental institutional cooperation," the statement added.
Among the areas that are primary for corrections in terms of more efficient revenue generation, the area of games of chance was recognized, which Damjanović said is being further analyzed and upgraded.
Through the normative institutional framework, the necessary changes to the existing draft law in this area will contribute to greater compliance in the area of increasingly present online and internet betting.
At the meeting, it was stated that the priority in upcoming projects will be social protection and reform in that area.
