Today, economic diplomacy is the focus of the diplomatic activities of all states and concerns all subjects of society that participate in strengthening the country's competitiveness, announced the president of the Chamber of Commerce (PKCG), Nina Drakić.

At the panel held in Monaco as part of the Conference of the Presidents of the Parliaments of Small States of Europe, she particularly emphasized the important role of chambers of commerce in economic diplomacy and their cooperation within associations such as Eurochambres and ICC.

"In order to increase the volume of foreign trade exchange and attract investments, small countries must implement strong economic diplomacy and promotion of their economy in a strong synergy of institutions that can contribute to this," said Drakić.

As announced by PKCG, she added that in Montenegro, PKCG is recognized as the bearer of significant activities in the sphere of economic diplomacy.

Drakić brought the Chamber's cooperation with diplomatic and consular missions, relevant ministries and the Investment Agency closer to the participants of the Conference.

The Montenegrin delegation was led by the President of the Assembly, Danijela Đurović, and consisted of representatives of PKCG, as well as the National Tourist Organization (NTO), headed by director Ana Tripković Marković.

The meeting on the topic of economic and tourist development: agility and attractiveness of small European countries was opened by the president of the National Council of Monaco, Stefan Valeri, and the participants of the parliamentary, economic and tourist delegations of Montenegro, Andorra, Iceland, Cyprus, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Malta, San Marino and the host country were greeted by Prince Albert II of Monaco.

"The conference was an opportunity to exchange experiences and good practices with colleagues from the chambers of commerce of small countries regarding adequate response and protection of the interests of the business community in times of crisis, such as the coronavirus pandemic and the war in Ukraine," the statement said.

Also, possibilities for improving cooperation and shared experiences in attracting high-paying guests were discussed, that is, about further directions for the development of tourism, which is the main economic branch in almost all small European countries.

As part of the conference, Drakić and the Director of the Research and Analysis Sector at PKCG, Miljan Šestović, met with more than 20 businessmen from Monaco.

Interest in Montenegro was shown by tour operators, organizers of entertainment events, representatives of the IT sector, energy, translation and real estate agencies.

"On the occasion of this meeting, a promotional event of the Path of Small States of Europe was held, so their exhibition spaces were set up at one of the more frequented locations in Monaco. During the tour of the stands, members of the delegations had the opportunity to see for themselves the great interest in the tourist offers of small countries, especially Montenegro," the announcement concludes.
