The Vice President of the Government of Montenegro for Regional Development and Minister of Capital Investments, Ervin Ibrahimović, invited potential investors from San Marino to consider concrete steps to formalize cooperation between the two countries by signing a special agreement.
As announced by the Ministry of Capital Investments, today Ibrahimović and the Minister of Economic Development Gorana Đurović met with the Minister of Industry, Crafts and Trade, Technological Research for the Simplification of San Marino Regulations, Fabio Rigi, in Villa Gorica.
It is stated that Ibrahimović informed Rigi about the key plans that are in front of Montenegro, as well as about the situation in the energy and transport sectors.
"Ibrahimović also invited potential investors from San Marino, based on whose interests, in a later period, a visit to San Marino would be reciprocated, to consider concrete steps to formalize the cooperation between the two friendly countries by signing a special agreement," the statement said.
Đurović pointed out that Montenegro and San Marino have solid foundations for strengthening the partnership in combat areas, especially economy and tourism.
He added that the visit is a good opportunity to initiate negotiations for the conclusion of new agreements in order, first of all, to establish a good institutional framework and define concrete modalities for the improvement of economic bilateral cooperation.
But also, as he added, by working together to draw the attention of the international community to the serious problems the whole world is facing, such as ecological and economic vulnerabilities.
"When small countries join together in the global economy, they can play an important role, especially within multilateral economic institutions characterized by a system based on rules, which sets equal conditions for all countries," said Đurović.
The Ministry said that the ministers exchanged views on the state of the economies of the two partner countries.
They highlighted a series of challenges imposed by the delicate geopolitical situation, the reflection of which permeates economic sectors at all levels, and they agreed that joint projects are a flywheel towards strengthening good cooperation between the two countries.
Today, Ibrahimović attended the business talks organized by the Chamber of Commerce of Montenegro, as part of the official visit of the San Marino delegation.
He pointed out that Montenegro is maximally committed to intensifying economic cooperation with all countries, especially in those circumstances in which that cooperation results in an increase in the volume of cargo flows through Montenegro.
Ibrahimović stated that cooperation in the field of implementation of infrastructure projects, which must be accompanied by even stronger regional economic initiatives, but also initiatives that will result in the joint performance of small countries on the market, is their high priority.
"Montenegro is committed to corridor development from Bar, the border with Serbia, Belgrade to Budapest and Bucharest, while encouraging intermodality and integrated logistics solutions," said Ibrahimović.
