The coal mine disposes of sufficient quantities of coal for the smooth operation of the Pljevlja Thermal Power Plant, despite the fact that it supplies certain quantities of coal to the Electric Power Company of Serbia (EPS).
"When it comes to the quantities of coal that are necessary for the smooth operation of the Pljevlja Thermal Power Plant, we have pointed out on several occasions that we have sufficient quantities at our disposal and that in no case, as conscientious and responsible management, will we not jeopardize the work of our primary and priority customer", they replied. are "News" from Rudnik uglja when asked whether they have sufficient quantities of coal for the smooth operation of the Pljeval block and the export of coal to EPS.
The coal mine supplies coal to EPS based on the contract signed at the end of May by the CEO of the largest Pljevan company, Milan Lekić, and the acting director of EPS, Miroslav Tomašević.
Until now, the mine has delivered about seven thousand tons of coal to EPS, while it delivers between four and five thousand tons per day to Pljevlja Thermal Power Plant.
"The daily amount of coal delivered to EPS depends on several factors, such as loading, crowds at border crossings, the number of trucks carrying out the transport, and the like. We transported about 7.000 tons, while the capacity and dynamics of transportation will be significantly increased by hiring the company that was selected in the tender," claims Rudnik Uglja.
Coal is transported by a company from Pancevo
During the regular overhaul of the Pljevlja Thermal Power Plant, the Mine was transporting coal to Prijepolje, while, after the public procurement procedure was carried out, that job was assigned to the company "BEDEM Energy Solutions DOO Pančevo".
"The public call for the procurement of coal transportation and loading services on this route was announced on June 1. In the meantime, four offers have arrived based on this public call: 'BEDEM Energy Solutions DOO Pančevo', the consortium 'Tim Company' and 'COOL TRANS DOO Podgorica', 'Transport Bajović doo Nikšić' and 'Štit prevoz doo Nikšić'. The bids were opened on June 17, while on July 8 the Decision on the selection of the most favorable bid was made, when 'BEDEM Energy Solutions DOO Pančevo' was chosen. After the decision was made, there was an appeal period of 10 days, during which no appeals were received, so a contract was signed between our company and 'BEDEM Energy Solutions DOO Pančevo' on July 22. The term of execution of the contract is six months from the date of conclusion of the contract or until the total agreed value is reached. The implementation of the contract with BEDEM began on July 25, when five gas-powered (methane) trucks, with a capacity of about 25 tons, headed in the direction of Prijepolje", they stated from Rudnik Uglja.
They explained that the services of transporting coal to Prijepolje and loading at the railway station are fully covered by EPS, and that they are not tied to the contracted coal price of EUR 28,8 per ton.
"The special value of this contract is that the capacity and dynamics of coal transport have been significantly increased."
The price depends on the caloric power
When asked by "Vijesti" whether the price at which they sell coal to EPS is below the market price and whether the claims that can be heard in the public are correct that the minimum price at which this quality of coal is sold is around 50 euros per ton, from the largest Pljevlja companies replied that the price was formed based on the calorific power of coal, and based on the base price.
"The base price for the average quality of coal of 8.000 kJ/kg that we sell to EPS on the basis of the contract for the sale of brown-lignite coal is 28,80 euros (without VAT), while, for example, the price for the Pljevlja Thermal Power Plant (TEP ) for a thermal power of 9.211 kJ/kg - 27 euros. This is the price for small granules from the valid price list. For the thermal power of 9.211 kJ/kg, which is distributed by TEP, the price of coal for EPS would be 33,15 euros per ton, which is 20 percent more than the realized price for the same calorific power compared to TEP, which is a significant percentage. Therefore, the price of 28,8 euros is related to the quality of heat power of 8.000 kJ/kg per ton, whereby, of course, the price is corrected by weighting in the range of heat power from 7.000 to 10.000 kJ/kg. During various media interpretations of the business arrangement established between our company and EPS, the public is often confused by the fact that, without taking into account the quality of the coal, information is published that the Republic of Serbia buys coal at several times higher prices compared to the one that EPS buys from Pljevlja Coal Mine. Simply, there is a difference between our brown-lignite coal and brown coal from the mine in Banovići, because the range of quality of coal from Banovići ranges from 18.000 to 20.000 kJ/kg, while the thermal power of our coal is between 8.000 and 14.000 kJ/kg", they clarified. are from Rudnik ulja.
The benefits are multiple, 33 tons did not disappear
They claim that Rudnik ulja cannot be at a loss from the business with EPS, and that in addition to the concrete financial profit that will be achieved, the benefits for the company are multiple.
"Here, we mean, first of all, the fact that we have provided a new and, we believe, stable market for the placement of our product, which represents a significant business step forward in perspective, especially in the event that, during 2024, due to the works on the ecological reconstruction of the TEP, according to a certain estimate, for a period of about eight months, we will not sell coal to our main customer. On the other hand, after the ecological reconstruction is completed, low-calorie coals will not be accepted by TEP, therefore, sound business logic dictates that we exploit and sell such coals in time, in order to avoid exploitation of deposits. It goes without saying that when forming the price according to EPS, we took into account income and expenses, and the results of operations, after which we established that the final result was positive, and that is a fact", claim the Rudnik Uglja.
Rudnik denied that 33 tons of coal disappeared after the measurements in Svilajnec.
"That is not true, the coal did not disappear in Svilajnec, but remained at the formed landfill in Prijepolje. Transport volumes that left the landfill in Pljevlje were not fully loaded into the composite in Prijepolje. The remaining quantities left at the landfill were loaded into another composition. Simply, in the specific case we transported a larger quantity than what fits in the composition, but the quantity in question was, we repeat, loaded into the next composite. The temporary landfill in Prijepolje is covered by video surveillance, which protects us from possible alienation of coal".
