Prime Minister in the technical mandate Dritan Abazović appealed to the Ministry of Capital Investments (MKI) to prepare a proposal on saving electricity as soon as possible.

"Given that the price of electricity is skyrocketing, I think it is extremely appropriate for the MKi to pass a proposal on saving electricity and that this appeal goes to the citizens," Abazović said.

At today's Government session, he said that the citizens of Montenegro pay the price of electricity, which is 12 times less than what the state pays when importing electricity.

"This leads to the accumulation of losses, which should be compensated if the weather conditions allow it in the fall and if the water levels are higher," said Abazović.

He added that this is the last moment to propose measures to save electricity, in order to help Elektroprivreda, so that the company does not go into trouble.

"The forecasts are that the price of electricity will rise even more in the coming period. I suggest that you make a set of measures and let's see how it will work," said the Prime Minister.

The representative of the Ministry of Capital Investments said that they have formed a commission that will deal only with this issue, and that they are waiting for the verification of that commission if it were to start implementation.

"The Municipality of Budva spends between 45 and 70 thousand per month on lighting alone. Savings can be made there. With the verification of this commission, we can start with concrete measures. We will start with local self-governments," said the MKI representative.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Ranko Krivokapić said that "we have to work out the crisis supply plan as soon as possible, even if we never use it".

He asked MKI to make a "case study" of how our electricity was managed on the energy exchange.

"Because they were and why they sold and why we are buying now," said Krivokapić.
