The proposal of the concession plan for ports of local importance for the year 2022 envisages that Risan Port in the Municipality of Kotor be given a concession, announced the Minister of Ecology, Spatial Planning and Urbanism Ana Novaković-Đurović.
"The special purpose spatial plan proposed Luka Risan as a port of nautical tourism and the construction of a marina with accompanying facilities is in accordance with the strategic determination of the state and in the function of accelerating economic development, which was also a key determination for the initiation of the concession award procedure," said Novaković-Đurović.
She emphasized that extreme caution is needed during potential construction due to environmental restrictions.
Minister of Foreign Affairs Ranko Krivokapić stated that this location is probably the largest underwater site in the country.
"We don't have that analysis and that part of the report... We don't have enough elements for a decision," said Krivokapić, who said he would abstain from voting.
Novaković-Đurović said that, if findings were to be found that threaten the site in any way, it is logical that the project would be stopped at that moment.
Krivokapić announced that the area is protected by UNESCO.
"Essentially, we do not lose anything if we postpone the decision until we receive that report," said Krivokapić.
