The executive director of Monteput Milan Ljiljanić said that they are ready to welcome winter on the highway, saying that all the equipment necessary for the maintenance of the road has already been acquired.
He said that the earliest start of work on the new sections would be in 2024.
Ljiljanić, two months after the opening of the section from Smokovac to Mataševo, assessed that, despite numerous challenges, they managed to live up to expectations.
"Many incidents happened, but we are satisfied with the functioning. Our services responded in a timely and efficient manner. With all large infrastructure projects, in the initial phase of exploitation, there are problems in functioning. In the beginning, there were problems with the billing system, but we solved them successfully" , Ljiljanić said in an interview with Mediabiro.
He assessed that the cooperation with the Chinese company CRBC was successful and fair.
He claims that, when it comes to the winter maintenance of the highway, they took concrete steps in time and that there is no need to worry.
"Regarding winter maintenance, I assure you that we will meet the winter season fully prepared. All the necessary equipment has already been acquired. We have acquired ten snow plows with combined spreaders and plows, two special 'Unimog' vehicles, snow blowers. The training of employees is underway Ljiljanić explained.
On the occasion of the continuation of the construction of the highway, the executive director of Monteput emphasized that the Ministry of Capital Investments applied for the funds needed for the construction of two sections, namely: Mataševo-Andrijevica, 23 kilometers long, and Farmaci-Smokovac, 12 kilometers long.
"It is planned that the development of the main project will be realized in the next year. This would also include the funds needed for the preparation of the tender documentation. The earliest start of work on the new sections would be in 2024," he said.
Monteput also works on management and maintenance of the "Sozina" tunnel and access roads. Comparing the results from previous seasons, they confirm that the number of passing vehicles is increasing from month to month, and that they expect a record number of traffic vehicles this year. In addition, the focus is on the improvement of the infrastructure of the facility, the length of which is 4.189 meters.
"As for the maintenance of the tunnel in the previous period, it was very challenging. It is a tunnel that has been in operation for 17 years. In the following period, by the end of the year, we expect minor interventions in the form of washing the tunnel and some interventions in terms of construction. In the following years, we will intensify this and allocate more funds, all in accordance with the regular maintenance plan," concluded Ljiljanić.
He also announced that through educating citizens about electronic toll collection, which is currently used by 20 percent of drivers, Monteput will work on its popularization.
