If the Podgorica budget had remained at the level of 2007 percent of GDP since 2,86, in the period from 2008 to 2021, the total receipts of the Podgorica budget would have been higher by a total of 650 million euros, the consulting firm Fidelity Consulting announced.
Fidelity compared the Capital City budgets from 2007 to 2021.
"Namely, way back in 2007, the receipts of the Capital made up 2,86% of the GDP of Montenegro, which amounted to 77 million euros. Fourteen years later, in 2021, the receipts of the same Capital are, believe it or not, smaller and they amount to 74 million euros and make up 1,49 percent of GDP. To help - budget receipts, in relation to GDP, have halved," Fidelity claims.
They state that, if the Podgorica budget had remained at the level of 2007 percent of GDP since 2,86, in the period from 2008 to 2021, the total receipts of the Podgorica budget would have been higher by a total of 650 million euros.
"You read it right - in the last 15 years, someone planned and fully consciously slowed down the growth and development of the capital in the amount of 650 million euros, all with the aim of deliberately slowing down the dynamics of the expansion of our metropolis, and today he is boasting of some kind of records and magnificent achievements such as the installation of benches in the park or by whitewashing a few facades".
They add that with 650 million euros, all possible and impossible projects could be completed, and that "it would also be possible to plant golden grass in the parks, with all diamonds and opals instead of screws and boards."
"Finally - for the sake of comparison, the City of Zagreb, with its 780.000 inhabitants, has a budget of 2 billion euros. If we were to follow the City of Zagreb, Podgorica should have a budget of at least 400 million euros. Let us remind you that today the data that the budget in 2023 will . year for the first time to exceed 100 million euros", they concluded.
