In October, the coal mine in Pljevlja (RUP) achieved a record result on the exploitation of overburden in the amount of 963.577 cubic meters of solid mass, which, as this state-owned company points out, is the largest amount of overburden produced in one month since the establishment of the company.

"The amount of overburden achieved in October this year is 63,3 percent more than the plan, and 85 percent more compared to October 2021. Such a result contributed to the fact that already at the beginning of November we have implemented the annual plan. According to the business plan for 2022, the production of 6.940.000 cubic meters of solid mass is planned, and in the first 10 months, a total amount of 7.001.138 cubic meters of solid overburden mass was achieved. For the same period, in comparison to the previous year, we have realized the plan by 27 percent more", it was announced from RUP.

In addition to good work and technological organization, favorable weather conditions in October contributed to the record result on overburden exploitation, as it is pointed out, when not a single shift was without effect on overburden.

The executive director of RUP, Milan Lekić, added that these record results on overburden showed the correctness of the decision to enter into a broad investment cycle when it comes to mining machinery.

"Although during 2022 the correctness of the mechanization was not at a satisfactory level, especially the excavation and loading, which in the previous months had a significant impact on the realization of the planned quantities of overburden, the stated problem was overcome with the maximum and professional engagement of the management and employees. Since the acquisitions in 2022 significantly increased the availability of excavation and loading, transport and auxiliary machinery, it has already produced results, and there is no doubt that it will also affect the realization of planned tasks in the coming period", said Lekić, stressing that he is extremely proud that RUP is writing history in these moments.
