Montenegro received an additional EUR 40 million in grants from the EU for three new infrastructure projects

For three new infrastructure projects, Montenegro has been granted an additional 40 million euros in grants from the European Union, announced the Department for Public Information on the European Union (EU) and the EU accession process.

As they state in the announcement, this was decided at the second meeting of the Operational Committee of the Western Balkans Investment Framework, which was held today in Brussels, where Montenegro was represented by the Acting General Director for European Funds at the Ministry of European Affairs, Bojan Vujović and his associates.

"In the area of ​​environmental protection, a project to improve communal infrastructure in the municipalities of Kolašin, Mojkovac and Rožaje has been approved. The EU, in cooperation with the European Investment Bank, will support the construction of wastewater treatment plants in Kolašin and Rožaje with 23 million euros and the improvement of the water supply system and the expansion of the sewerage network in Kolašin, Rožaje and Mojkovac with a total value of 34,12 million euros," they state in the announcement.

In addition, as they say, through the education program in Montenegro, the EU and the bilateral donors ZIO have allocated 11 million euros, which will co-finance the construction and renovation of infrastructure in kindergartens, primary schools, gymnasiums and secondary vocational schools in addition to the already approved loan from the European Investment Bank. , in accordance with the principles of energy efficiency.

"The project, with a total value of 64 million euros, also includes the procurement of new information equipment and furniture for schools and special equipment for vocational schools. Within this project, new facilities will be built for the elementary school 'Vladimir Nazor' and a new gymnasium in Podgorica," the announcement reads. .

In addition, they state, six million euros of non-reimbursable support was approved for supplementing the feasibility study, assessing the impact on the environment and preparing the main projects for the continuation of the construction of the Bar-Boljara highway, i.e. new sections of the road.

As stated, Vujović expressed his gratitude to the donors for the granted grants and emphasized that the approved funds will contribute to the further development of the education system, the achievement of efficiency and sustainability of the water supply, drainage and wastewater treatment system and the improvement of traffic connections.

"It is a particular pleasure that we managed to prepare and propose new projects with which the EU will support the development of the northern region of Montenegro in important infrastructural areas. measure to influence the economic development and improvement of the quality of life of citizens in the northern part of Montenegro.
