Representatives of the Independent Police Union are unhappy that they were not invited to yesterday's meeting at the Ministry of Finance, where there were representatives of the Police Administration Union and the MUP Union, and the discussion was on increasing the salary of police officers and harmonizing the collective agreement.
They told colleagues who, as they said, present themselves as trade unionists, and in fact are far from it, to think carefully before agreeing and signing anything related to salary increases and the collective agreement.
As stated in the statement signed by the president of that union, Igor Rmandić, the Independent Police Union was previously promised participation in the negotiations and no one objected to that proposal, which was also publicly announced on the MUP website.
"One questions the seriousness of the negotiations if the agreements on their dynamics and method last as long as the meeting at which they were reached. On the other hand, we leave the possibility that the Cabinet of the Minister of Finance made an oversight and simply forgot to call us, without bad intentions. If it is in we will accept the apology and expect an invitation to the next meeting. What remains our position and what we will not give up is that the salary of police officers must be increased in such a way that the coefficient for the calculation of wages is increased by no less than 25 percent. The request is very realistic, based on the reality in which Montenegrin citizens live and work", says Igor Rmandić.
As he said, police officers are fed up with empty stories and unfulfilled promises, and they certainly won't watch how "unionists" once again "sell" them for personal interests and their own privileges.
"Their behavior at the meetings attended by representatives of the Independent Police Union is scandalous to say the least and does not look like a trade union struggle. While some represent the side of the employer and tell us not to 'get stuck' with the demands, because there is no money, others are half-hearted meeting, they get up and leave, because they have some prior obligations. The problems and poverty of policemen obviously do not concern them," Rmandić said.
The independent police union thanked the Committee for Security and Defense, as well as the parliamentary clubs in the Parliament of Montenegro, who, after the meetings they had with the representatives of the union, decided to support their proposal for more favorable conditions for the retirement of police officers and to refer the proposal on changes to the law to the parliamentary procedure .
"The willingness for dialogue and understanding they have shown gives hope that finally police officers will be treated adequately to the difficulty and danger of the work they perform as well as the importance they have for our society. We sincerely hope that all the members of the Parliament of Montenegro will understand the situation in which we also find that they will support this proposal during the vote," says Rmandić.
