Rovčanin: Declare the heating of Pljevlja a project of public interest

Executive Director of Elektroprivreda Crne Gore, Nikola Rovčanin, called on the Government of Montenegro to declare the heating of Pljevlja a project of public interest and thus speed up its implementation.

"Having in mind the need for quick implementation of the heating project in Pljevlja, which was started by EPCG and signed the contractor's contract for the first phase, it is necessary that the decision of the Government in accordance with the legal procedure determines this project to be of public interest. That decision would speed up the procedure related to the expropriation of land on the route of the heat pipe, as well as numerous other procedures related to preparatory and construction works, environmental impact assessments, etc., Rovčanin said in the announcement.

It is also necessary, he points out, for the Public Works Administration to speed up and call for a tender for the construction of phases I and II of the heating pipeline.

"The goal is for the heat pipe to reach the central boiler room as soon as possible, as the biggest polluter. The municipality of Pljevlja has the task of quick reaction and tendering for the execution of works on the secondary network, bearing in mind that the projects exist, with minor interventions, changes and additions. Funds are provided partly in the state budget and partly from the annual eco tax. It is very important that the primary and secondary heating pipeline projects are carried out in parallel, so that already in 2024, they will have full potential and completed heating of the city at full capacity", said Rovčanin in the announcement.
