The Chamber of Commerce of Montenegro expressed concern regarding the announced changes to the set of tax laws.
As they stated, they are worried about the manner of adoption in a non-transparent procedure and without prior consultation with the business community, as well as the fact that they regulate areas with an exceptional impact on business.
"Instead of the expected reduction of levies on the economy, the announced changes to the tax laws introduce additional burdens and put the economy in an even more difficult position, while ignoring the complex economic moment in which business processes take place. Also, the fact that the proposed tax changes will lead to growth is ignored prices, reducing sales, increasing the volume of the gray economy instead of increasing revenues for the state," the statement said.
They believe that a stable business environment and the predictability of tax policy are important factors in making a decision to invest or continue investing in business operations.
"And such changes to the law do not send such messages to domestic or foreign investors. Bearing in mind the above, we appeal to stop the process of changing these laws, and we suggest holding meetings between decision makers and the economy, which we believe is crucial for adoption and implementation any changes in this matter," concludes the announcement of the Chamber of Commerce.
