The Ministry of Economic Development, in agreement with representatives of retail chains, created the "Stop Inflation" program, which includes the definition of an anti-inflationary basket that will contain at least one item of 25 basic foods.
This was announced at today's Government session by the line minister Goran Đurović.
"At the moment, the following retail chains are involved: 'Voli', 'Laković', 'Mercator', 'Franca', 'Aroma'. We have announcements that other chains and stores will also join this story," said Đurović and added that it is an act of socially responsible business.
He clarified that the choice of the specific item from the defined list of products is made by the trader himself and forms the price with a previously reached agreement.
"The trade margin in retail should not be more than five percent, while the margin in wholesale is also limited to five percent. The trader is obliged to keep records of the types of prices and charged margins on individual items and submit them to the ministry upon request," he said. Đurović.
The minister further clarified that this campaign will start next Tuesday, and every shelf in the markets will be marked with a product with the "Stop Inflation" logo.
"So customers will know exactly which part of that consumer basket was produced, and the prices are minimal," said Đurović.
Đurović said that the ministry has proposed 25 products that will be included in the anti-inflation basket, and that traders have shown the will to expand that list, which they will be able to do.
He stated which products were in question. These are: eggs, types of cheese, yogurt, milk, potatoes, rice, beans, macaroni, chicken meat, ham in wrappers, dry pork, sardines in oil, milk chocolate, ground coffee, various juices, part of vegetables, food and shampoo for babies, baby diapers, sanitary napkins, shampoo for adults, detergent...
