The Minister of Economic Development, Goran Đurović, announced that the "Stop Inflation" action will start on Tuesday, so citizens will be able to buy basic food items at cheaper prices.
As Đurović stated, during the day the department he manages will publicly announce the items and their prices as well as the places where they will be sold.
Đurović said that until today they have delivered their anti-inflation baskets: Voli, Laković, Domača trgovina, Mercator, Mega promet, Franca.
"I thank them all. They showed social responsibility," said Đurović, who invited other retail chains to join the action.
He said that those retail chains gave more than the 25 products that were foreseen, the margin of which will be limited to five percent.
"I'm going to visit one store at a time tomorrow, to see for myself how the action is going," said Đurović.
He added that the first anti-inflation basket will last until the end of April.
"Then we'll see what the price movement will be, then it will go until the end of May, and then we'll see what the general situation will be," said Đurović.
It is planned that the following products will enter the basic anti-inflation basket: eggs, types of cheese, yogurt, milk, potatoes, rice, beans, macaroni, chicken meat, ham in wrappers, dry pork, sardines in oil, milk chocolate, ground coffee, various juices, some vegetables, baby food and shampoo, baby diapers, sanitary napkins, adult shampoo, detergent...
