Branko Vešović, the president of the Union of Pensioners' Associations, announced that the municipal associations of Montenegro have given their consent in writing to deduct one euro from their pensioners' February pension, so that the money can be used to help earthquake victims in Turkey and Syria.
"Consent came from the municipal associations of pensioners in Andrijevica, Bar, Bijelo Polje, Budva, Berane I, Berane II, Cetinje, Danilovgrad, Herceg Novi, Kolašin, Kotor, Mojkovac, Nikšić, Podgorica, Plav, Pljevlja, Plužine, Rožaje, Savnik, Tivat, Ulcinj, Žabljak, Petnjica, Tuzi, Zeta and Gusinje," the statement of the Association of Pensioners of Montenegro (SUPCG) states.
We remind you that several pensioners contacted the editorial office of "Vijesti", because they are confused as to why one euro was taken from them without their knowledge, especially because there was no announcement in the public about the conclusion, neither by the PIO Fund, nor by the Union of Associations of Pensioners.
Vešović emphasized that they forwarded all the consents they received to the PIO Fund, which accepted their joint decision.
"From the February pension, the members of the Association of Associations of Pensioners of Montenegro set aside 89.301 euros and sent them to the victims of the earthquake in Turkey and Syria through the Red Cross," Vešović said.
Vešović pointed out that they had previously informed all 26 municipal associations of pensioners in writing.
He adds that they informed the associations last month that they consult local associations on the administrative boards and make decisions, i.e. consent, that pensioners who are members of SUPCG be deducted one euro each from February, "as aid to the affected population, which they did".
"After the signed decisions of all local and municipal associations were submitted, the PIO Fund made a decision to deduct one euro from the February pension," Vešović pointed out.
Thus, as he says, the Board of Directors of the PIO Fund, at its meeting on March 13, passed a Conclusion on the implementation of the requests of SUPCG members and, in the amount of one euro, "suspended" members of the pensioners' association.
"The aid was paid to the account of the Red Cross and half was sent to Turkey and Syria," added Vešović.
"SUPCG, at the correspondence session held on February 16, supported the requests of pensioners to provide humanitarian aid to the victims of the catastrophic earthquake in Turkey and Syria," concluded Vešović.
