The municipality of Bar has paid the money necessary for the expropriation of the land on Maljevik in Sutomore, thus fulfilling all its obligations on this project.
At the previous session, the Government of Montenegro determined the public interest in the expropriation of private property so that the "Maljevik" project, worth around half a billion euros, could be implemented.
The expropriation will cost the Municipality of Bar around 114.000 euros.
The government and the Ministry of Finance raised the issue of Maljevik after 16 years.
In September 2007, the Podgorica company with Russian capital "Sonuba Montenegro" bought 200.000 square meters of land in Maljevik from the Municipality of Bar for 32,5 million euros, with another 11,8 million charged for utilities. The goal was to build an exclusive tourist complex, but from the signing of the contract until today "not a single nail has been hammered".
It was announced from the Municipality of Bar that, after the previous implementation of part of the obligations during 2021, all preconditions have been created to start one of the largest investments in the field of tourism development on the territory of the municipality.
"This is particularly important for the development of the Spica region and the policy of equal development of all parts of the city, as a priority of the local administration."
The funds, they said, were paid on the basis of the Decision of the Ministry of Finance on the determination of public interest in the expropriation of immovable property at KO Sutomore - at the Maljevik location in order to build a traffic road with accompanying infrastructure that is foreseen, and which is a prerequisite for starting the realization of the construction of a tourist complex in Maljevik.
"The municipality of Bar expresses its gratitude to all those who contributed to solving this problem promptly, in the best way and in the best interest of the local community, citizens and the overall progress and further accelerated development of Bar, as well as the wider tourist offer of the entire country. We are convinced that this priority project will soon confirm its quality, and together with all other development investments in the field of tourism in the territory of Bar, which are worth over 200 million euros, provide new momentum to the development of our municipality," the announcement concludes.
