NATO procurement and potential benefits for the Montenegrin economy were the topics of the round table organized by the Chamber of Commerce of Montenegro.

During the round table, as announced by PKCG, the procedures for registration, entry into the records, provision of appropriate permits were explained, all with the aim of qualifying for the NATO procurement system. The goal was to point out the potential offered by NATO procurement, which, according to the adviser to the president of the Chamber of Commerce, Dragoljub Bulatović, is not being used to a sufficient extent.

"We still make little use of the opportunities from NATO public procurement. I appeal to businessmen to, in the following period, register for NCAGE (NATO code) and NSN (warehouse number), and to register in the records of the Chamber of Commerce, which are prerequisites for the visibility of their products in these processes. The Chamber of Commerce has formed a special support service that deals with procurement within the Alliance," said Bulatović.

He recalled that in March the Ministry of Economic Development and Tourism issued an Instruction on the procedure for verifying the fulfillment of the conditions for the participation of business entities registered in Montenegro for participation in procurement for the needs of the North Atlantic Alliance, and that the Chamber of Commerce, in cooperation with the organizers of the meeting, prepared and printed a manual for handling NATO tenders.

In the focus of Dejan Stanić, B.Sc. Eng. of military engineering in the Directorate for Standardization, Codification and Quality of the Ministry of Defense were the registration of companies and obtaining NATO marks for the company and the product.

"Codification contributes to the presentation of Montenegro in a positive light in the codification community and indicates that Montenegrin companies and their products can be competitive and in demand," said Stanić.

"The challenges are how to enable the products of Montenegrin companies to be available on the NATO market, provide them with support so that they can easily and quickly add and change data, and show that codification contributes to the strengthening of the national brand on the NATO market and beyond," he concluded. Stanic.

Valentina Knežević Tomić, director of the Directorate for NATO in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, spoke about the contracting system, procurement values and positive practices of member countries. Her focus was especially on unclassified tenders.

"Since 2017, we have not been able to use all the potential of NATO procurements and we must not waste any more time. We need to focus on unclassified tenders, which make up the largest number of NATO procurements, and the procedure is exactly the same as in the case of classified ones," she said.

She spoke about the principles of cooperation with NATO, emphasizing voluntariness, confidentiality, fair business, inclusiveness, and mutual interest.

Bojan Jovović, Director of the Department for Legal and General Affairs at PKCG, clarified the entry in the Chamber's records.

"The confirmation that a certain business entity is registered with the Chamber of Commerce is an integral part of the documentation submitted to the competent ministry, with the aim of issuing a certificate for participation in procurement for the needs of the North Atlantic Alliance," Jovović emphasized.

He said that the Chamber of Commerce will play a significant role in this process, both in terms of spatial capacities and those for creating assumptions and ensuring the conditions for the participation of business entities in procurement for the needs of the North Atlantic Alliance.

According to him, on a special page on the website of the Chamber, public invitations for tenders whose level of secrecy allows it will be published.

"The next round table will be held immediately during July, and Councilor Bulatović invited businessmen to submit applications for registration from tomorrow," the announcement concludes.
