The strengthening of rural tourism in the north, with already developed tourist capacities in the south, should be the driving force behind the development of agriculture while raising the standards of the population, assessed the advisor to the President of Montenegro for regional development, Aleksandar Stijović.
Stijović, on behalf of the President of Montenegro, attended the fair and business forum in Bijelo Polje, which was organized by the Bjelo Polje Municipality with the Tourism Organization and with the support of the Ministry of Agriculture.
Stijović, as reported by the President's Information Service, said that the organization of the fair with the thematic business forum is an excellent example of how well-designed events strengthen the tourism economy and contribute to better connection and cooperation between agricultural producers and consumers.
According to him, domestic products, produced in Montenegro, reach consumers directly in this way, but, what is even more important, through such fairs and hotel chains and traders get a picture of what Montenegrin agriculture can offer and in what volume and quality.
"Our wish is that everyone who chooses Montenegro as their tourist destination gets the opportunity to get to know the north better, not only to go from the border to the sea, but also to enjoy the rich and varied offer in both the northern and central parts of Montenegro. Our task is to offer them contents that will intrigue them to spend part of their vacation in the north", said Stijović.
He pointed out that the joint task of all is to promote both agricultural products of local producers and the tourist offer of Montenegro, tying them into a supply chain where both parties benefit from cooperation, while at the same time the tourist gets an enriched tourist offer, the possibility of planning an active vacation and discovering hidden the beauty of Montenegro from the moment it enters Montenegro until its final destination.
Stijović called for everyone to join forces in order to make it easier for agricultural producers to market their products through networking, new ideas and digital solutions, for the commercial sector to market as many domestic products as possible, and to provide tourists with a new and enriched offer, with new and for them to hitherto undiscovered tourist destinations in Montenegro.
