The Minister of Finance Aleksandar Damjanović and the State Secretary of that Ministry Ilija Vukčević met today with the Minister of Finance of Serbia, Siniša Mali and his associates, the Ministry of Finance (MoF) announced.
"Among other things, the topic of the meeting was solving the complex situation in which the Dr. Simo Milošević Institute finds itself due to high indebtedness, among other things, to Jugobanca AD in bankruptcy, i.e. the competent Agency of the Republic of Serbia," the statement of the Ministry of Finance states.
The statement adds that "bearing in mind that this is a final court judgment that is enforceable, and which is an obligation of the state of Montenegro, the model of settling the debt according to the aforementioned court judgment was discussed, while at the same time solving the issue of outstanding obligations of the Republic of Serbia to Montenegro for old foreign currency savings."
"It was agreed that, in order to avoid a possible blockade of the Institute, and thus an almost certain bankruptcy, the two Governments should agree on the way and dynamics of solving these two issues as soon as possible. This reduces the total obligations of the Institute and eliminates the greatest threat of introducing bankruptcy." , it is added.
It was emphasized that they also discussed the possibility of long-term cooperation between the "Dr. Simo Milošević" Institute and the Republic Health Insurance Fund of Serbia in terms of the use of the Institute's services by health insurers from that country, bearing in mind the experience of cooperation from the previous period and the fact that the Institute is at its best had business results while the contract with Serbia was in force.
"At the meeting, the draft Agreement on the donation of the E-invoice system of the Republic of Serbia was agreed, which will be proposed to both governments, and which represents the basis for the introduction of this system in Montenegro. This will radically improve economic activities within Montenegro in such a way that the system will e-invoices will speed up the flow of goods and money within our economy, to a large extent suppress the existing level of the gray economy and solve the major VAT refund problems faced by Montenegrin companies," the announcement concludes.
