Montenegro is servicing all budget obligations smoothly and has ensured financial stability and sustainability for the next period as well, announced the Minister of Finance Aleksandar Damjanović.
Today, he and his colleagues met with the new resident representative of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for the Western Balkans, Sebastian Sosa, and the previous resident representative, Stephanie Eble, from whom Sosa took over last week.
Damjanović emphasized the excellent cooperation between the Ministry and the IMF so far, as well as the expectation that it will continue in the future, to which the management team of the department he manages will make a full contribution.
"As part of the handover mission in the countries of the Western Balkans, representatives of the IMF talked with the leadership of the Ministry about the current economic situation and the latest parameters of public finances," the announcement states.
Director General of the Directorate for the State Budget, Bojan Paunović, speaking about the current priorities in the work of the Ministry, announced that they are actively working on the preparation of the Budget Law for the next year, so that, according to the deadlines, it would be in the parliamentary procedure by November 15.
Macroeconomic flows and revenue collection for this year were also discussed.
The head of the Directorate for Public Debt, Katarina Živković, announced that activities are underway to complete the financial structure for this year and create deposits for the next, and that the most favorable models are being considered in this direction.
Sosa expressed his readiness to continue providing expert and technical support of this financial institution to Montenegro, through the definition of priority areas of future joint activities.
Damjanović thanked the previous representative, Ebla, for the very professional cooperation and support for the efforts of the Ministry and the Government in leading a responsible public finance policy.
