Conflicting positions in the Government regarding the Airport's plan to build a new terminal in Podgorica

Airports of Montenegro (ACG) plan to launch a project to build a new passenger terminal at Podgorica airport.

Plans related to this project were presented at the Government session by the President of the Board of Directors of ACG, Eldin Dobardžić.

He said that this investment would cost between 30 and 40 million euros and that it starts from the conceptual project.

"We have part of the money for the investment, and we would finance the part from the loan," said Dobardžić.

Dobardžić said that in eight months ACG had 23,8 million euros, which is 36 percent more than in the same period last year, while the net profit for the same period was 8,3 million or three times more than in eight months last year.

Ministers of Agriculture and Economic Development Vladimir Joković and Goran Đurović said that it is a good investment that should be started as soon as possible.

"A modest investment," Đurović assessed.

State Secretary in the Ministry of Capital Investments (MKI) Admir Šahmanović said that Dobardžić "jumped 20 steps" in this announcement.

"MKI was not informed and probably this idea was born last night or the night before last. We should not forget that the concession procedure is still there and in order to ensure the sustainability of ACG", said Šahmanović, adding that the decision is not in accordance with the Master Plan for the development of ACG from in 2011.

Prime Minister Dritan Abazović said that the concession issue will be resolved by the new Government.

"If you are going to introduce negative energy, don't speak. We don't have time for that, but let's work for the benefit of the citizens," said Abazović.

The Minister of Finance, Aleksandar Damjanović, congratulated the management of ACG - the board of directors and the executive director, Vladan Drašković, on the good results and said that he "hopes that they will continue to work as a team".

"Perhaps, after this information, we should organize a thematic session regarding the fate of the tender for the concession, which we can cancel without legal consequences, and think about a new one and see if we are trying with our own strength to start a serious investment in both airport," Damjanović said.

Dobardžić told Šahmanović that the ACG Board of Directors "is open to the Ministry of Capital Investments at any time of the day or night."

"This idea was not born last night," said Dobardžić to the state secretary of the MKI.
