Thermal power plant (TE) Pljevlja, as announced, represents the pillar and foundation of the Montenegrin energy system and is well on its way to achieving new production records, and its successful operation will depend on the completion of complex projects that are implemented, as well as their quality.
Elektroprivreda (EPCG) announced that today the 41st anniversary of the existence and successful operation of the electric power plant of Pljevlja was marked today.
"Let us remind you that the first kilowatt hours of electricity to the power system of Montenegro were delivered by the Termoelektrana on October 21, 1982, and that was the last major energy project implemented in our country until the construction of wind and solar capacities in the middle of the second decade of the current century," it is stated. in the announcement.
The director of TE Pljevlja, Mirko Mazalica, said that during its operation the thermal power plant went through various stages of reconstruction and modernization, which, as he explained, are inevitable for such a complex production facility.
"In order to be able to continue with further work, we must fulfill the directives of the Energy Community regarding the emission of flue gases. Accordingly, the implementation of the Ecological Reconstruction project is underway. In addition to this complex project, there are other projects in the plan that are related to the replacement of parts of the plant that have been operating for 41 years with the aim of more reliable operation for a longer period of time, and in order for these projects to be successfully completed, all EPCG employees, especially the workers of the Thermal Power Plant, contractors works and supervision must give their maximum contribution with their knowledge and work", said Mazalica.
The executive director of EPCG, Nikola Rovčanin, said that the Thermal Power Plant Pljevlja is a pillar and foundation of the energy system of Montenegro.
"This was confirmed by the previous difficult years of the energy crisis, when we relied on the production of the Pljevlja Thermal Power Plant, which in certain months reached 90 percent of the total EPCG production," said Rovčanin.
He said that in previous years significant results were achieved when it comes to the Pljevlja Thermal Power Plant.
"The record for continuous work of 163 days was broken in 2021. This year, we are well on our way to setting new production records. All this is reflected in EPCG's finances. This year we will have a historic profit, which is predicted at the level of 100 million euros, but let's wait these few months to see what hydrology will bring," said Rovčanin.
He stated that when it comes to the heating project of Pljevlja, the complete project for the route of the main heating pipe is nearing completion, and that it is expected that we will have the first signals in starting the project at the end of the year.
Director of the Production Functional Unit at EPCG, Bojan Đordan, said that a lot of money has been invested in projects at the Pljevlja Thermal Power Plant, but also that challenging periods are ahead when it comes to thermal energy.
"Believing in the further future of the Pljevlja Thermal Power Plant for a not so short period of time, EPCG management made strategic decisions and decided to invest in the Thermal Power Plant, starting with the environmental reconstruction project, which represents the beginning of a series of investments in this plant and prerequisites for further investments," he said. Jordan.
He said that with the completion of the ecological reconstruction project, the heating project of Pljevlja will continue.
"In a few days we expect the completion of the revision of the main project, and therefore we will obtain the conditions for obtaining a building permit, while we have carried out certain preparatory works. By implementing these two projects, I think conditions will be created for a much healthier environment for living and staying in Pljevlja," said Đordan.
The technical director of EPCG, Zoran Šljukić, presented the investment projects related to the Pljevlja Thermal Power Plant, and at the end of the ceremony, awards were given to employees from the Thermal Power Plant who were the best in performing their work tasks in the previous year, namely: Mladen Potpara, Božidar Niković, Miloš Milićević, Ivica Jović and Kenan Ciguljin.
