Montenegro is considering issuing bonds for citizens, and the experience of neighboring Croatia, which issued them for the first time in March, would be very useful for it, it was assessed at the working lunch of the finance ministers of the two countries, Aleksandar Damjanović and Marko Primorac.
The Ministry of Finance announced that Primorac spoke about the model of placing bonds for the population, which aroused great interest among the citizens of Croatia, and offered expert support, should Montenegro decide on a similar move.
Damjanović said that the intention is to introduce new financial instruments to give citizens the opportunity to participate more actively in these processes, encouraging the financial literacy of the population and reviving the capital market, by restoring trust in it.
Damjanović, bearing in mind the level of deposits and the potential for these funds to be engaged through investments, said that the successful implementation of the mentioned issue of bonds for citizens would be for the general benefit of all participants of the transaction.
Given that this process requires a number of technical preconditions and the full institutional readiness of the state, Damjanović said that the preparation should begin as soon as possible.
Today in Zagreb, the ministers also discussed other possibilities for strengthening the cooperation of neighboring countries, expressing mutual readiness to strengthen the partnership through all topics of common interest.
On the Montenegrin side, the meeting was attended by State Secretary Ilija Vukčević and President of the Capital Market Commission, Željko Drinčić.
Today in Zagreb, Damjanović and Drinčić also attended a conference entitled Corporate governance and sustainable business - the path to climate transition, which was organized by the Croatian Financial Services Supervisory Agency (HANFA) and Jutarnji list.
The meeting was opened by Primorac, and was organized for the sixth year in a row, with the aim of discussing the exceptional importance of the quality of corporate management, both for individual business success and for general economic growth, with special emphasis placed on sustainability and trust in challenging times.
